Wow - This really is The Art Center's first blog ever and mine as well! This is the second week in January and The Art Center is closed for our annual clean up. We worked really hard last week...painted the old bookcase, moved that same bookcase and the office to the other side of the room, took out the old refrigerators from the classroom and added a new work center to the far right corner, painted the classroom walls bright white because some of our members commented that it was hard to see during classes, cleaned and moved things around in the ceramics room, arranged to have the sink moved and new wiring put in for the brand new glass kiln and painted the floor in the ceramics room. We still have a bunch more planned and will probably be at The Art Center most days in the coming weeks if anyone wants to come join the crew, we'd love to have you!
We had our first gallery meeting of the year on Friday the 9th of January and almost have a full gallery schedule for 2015. The Feb/Mar gallery, "Vistas", will feature Sean Buie Photography. An opening reception for Sean will be held on February 6th. It feels nice to all of us on the committee to be ahead with gallery planning, we also took our first reservation for next years gallery calandar. The attendance at all of the gallery openings the end of last year was excellent and we hope to keep our momentum going!
As we start the new year, The Art Center is taking on a new look and seems to be taking on a bright new life. A life of more laughter and progress, a life of prosperity and co-operation, a life of kindness and understanding, a life of friends, art and fun - let's hear it for a new year!
